The absorption of ultrasonic energy varies depending on the plastic material. The ultrasonic vibration is not the whole, but selective heating occurs locally. For example, by sandwiching a hard plastic or adhesive with good absorption between hard plastics, the hard plastic can be welded without generating much heat. . During welding, ultrasonic waves propagate through the plastic and reach the joint surface, where they cause heat generation and welding. In harder plastics, ultrasonic waves propagate more easily.
